Baseball Season Is Coming. What Are You Contemplating?
Listed in: BaseballAlmost a year ago, in anticipation of baseball season, I wrote a piece contemplating how ballplayers' actions are filtered through the passage of time until an overall conception of reality is fashioned for people today. This idea is not unique to sports, but what is unique is the type of connection people make to athletes, and I thought my reactions to how I think of athletes past and present worth noting. I concentrated on icons of two different ages: Joe Dimaggio, Ted Williams, and Barry Bonds, and I think it's worth revisiting it, since the filtering process continues to unfold.
